![]() ![]() ![]() They didn't take any life jackets however, and despite being less than five miles from take-off point and in an area of considerable and constant marine traffic the others were not seen or heard after the crash. The pilot and other passengers were not inside the aircraft, suggesting that they also escaped. At least one passenger was uninjured in the emergency landing, escaped the aircraft and was later found drowned in his floater coat. He was facing glassy water, fog, smoke and oil on the windscreen (as well as whatever the engine problem may have been, exactly - we think a cylinder blew, but the engine is on the ocean floor so no one can say for sure). ![]() There is a lot of discrepancy about just how much they were leaking, and how often/ how much water was being pumped.Ībout a thousand flight hours later, it appears the pilot had to make an emergency landing due to an engine failure. We know that in the fall of 2003, it was being arranged for the floats to be completely overhauled and reskinned but the owner decided he couldn't afford it. What we have is a pair of EDO 4580's on a DHC-2 operating out of Campbell River spit. Many of you know who I am and what my situation is.
